Louis F. Neuweiler & Son Brewery

Neuweiler Brewery 1905 - 1968

Louis Neuweiler bought out Benedict Nuding’s brewery in 1900, to form Louis F. Neuweiler & Son Brewery in Allentown, PA. The Brewery had 2 names prior to the buy out Nuding Breweing Co. & Germania Brewery. Soon after buying Nudings Brewery, Louis discovered the brewery was limited by its location at Front and Gordon Streets in Allentown. So in 1911 a massive project begins with his son Charles, Neuweiler brewery buys 4.5 acres at 401 Noth Front Street to expand. The expansion consisted of multiple buildings, the biggest being 6 stories in height an office building, brew house, stock house, pump house, wash house, chemistry lab building, boiler room, bottling house, garage, fermenting cellar, and a smokestack. The brewery produced many brands of beer including Light Lager, Cream Ale, Stock Ale, Premium Ale, Bock (seasonal), Half & Half, Porter, Stout and Hochberg. When Neuweiler was in its prime it was Allentown’s largest employer. The Brewery officially closed in 1968 due to competition from national breweries.
